Baby Shower Secrets
Baby Shower Secrets Every Hostess Should Know
Is your to-do list getting longer with each day? Are you feeling overwhelmed with the expectations of others?
You’re not alone!
Many hostesses feel that everything is getting away from them and that they won’t be able to get it all done. By keeping to your
checklist
and doing small tasks each day, you will inevitably complete what you need to. Always keep in mind that you’re giving a gift to the expectant mother and that she will appreciate your efforts.
If family is getting you down, give them something to do. Not only will this remove items from your checklist, it allows family to feel a part of the planning process. Keep the tasks simple and be sure to follow up to make sure everything has been completed.
Afraid of the kitchen and what’s involved in putting on a big spread for the shower? Don’t be! I know, easier said than done, but trust me. Guests aren’t expecting a totally catered event, and if they are, the caterer will take care of what needs to be done.
One good idea for getting control of the food is to prepare and freeze your dishes before the shower. This way you won’t be rushed or stressed days before. A quick trip to Costco could also alleviate your problems. They have a great selection of appetizers and other snack foods, but if this isn’t in your budget, plan a potluck shower.
Potluck showers not only relieve the hostess of having to cook all day, they also allow the guests to be involved. The only suggestion I have for planning a potluck is to make sure you’ve delegated dishes. Everyone has a favorite dessert they love to make, but what would your shower be if you only had desserts to serve? I personally would love it!!
Not sure what theme to choose? I don’t blame you!! There are so many theme options now that it’s difficult to make a decision. The best solution is to discuss it with the mother-to-be. She will have a good idea what theme she’d like, but if she doesn’t, choose one that has a lot of choices in terms of decorations, plates and balloons. A personal favorite is Winnie-the-Pooh. Not only can you find themed decorations, but there are also invitations, plates, napkins, cups, table coverings and cake toppers!!
Take care of yourself! If you’re stressed and nervous about the shower, what fun are you going to have? Have a relaxing bath with bubbles, sip some wine, or get a pedicure. Do whatever it takes to calm your nerves, so that you can have a good time, too!!
