Creative Baby Shower Centerpieces
"Baby Shower Centerpieces That Will Look Beautiful On Your Table"
The placement of baby shower centerpieces is usually on the food table, surrounded by the delicious dishes you cooked or in the middle of the table for a sit down luncheon. Be careful of the size you choose if your guests will be sitting at a table. You don’t want to block the view of the guest-of-honor.
Centerpieces can be of a traditional nature or follow your baby shower theme. If you want to have a traditional feel, look for:
- flower arrangements
- baby themed items
- candles
- pictures
- a diaper cake
Place flowers in a vase or cut the tops off a few stems and place them in a bowl of water. Floating flowers or candles make a beautiful touch to any celebration. Choose a decorative bowl with enough space for 1-3 flowers. It’s best to use odd numbers, so that the flowers and candles present well.
Baby themed items include anything from water toys to baby bottles. Using a basket or tray, place items evenly with a few flowers or bibs/facecloths mixed in. As with all baby shower centerpieces, this could be given to the mother-to-be as a gift at the end of the shower.
A nice display of family photos that covers generations would be a nice touch, especially if the grandmother or great grandmother were to be there. Use a variety of frames to make the centerpiece more interesting. Baby shower themed confetti sprinkled around the frames and a few flowers would be lovely!
Diaper Cakes
have been a favorite for many years. They range in size from 1-5 tiers and can be theme specific or generic. Most diaper cakes include:
- diapers
- stuffed toys
- receiving blankets
- baby bottles
- accessories
It is possible to have diaper cakes made-to-order and to follow a theme.
Themed diaper cakes make great centerpieces because they match the rest of your decorations. Examples of possible themes include:
- Beatrix Potter
- Moons and Stars
- Winnie the Pooh
- Precious Moments
- Sesame Street
- Under the Sea
- Looney Tunes
- Sports
Diaper cakes are also available for color themes and by gender.
If you are following a theme and want to have a baby shower centerpiece other than a diaper cake, our

A few examples of themed baby shower centerpieces include:
- Noah’s Ark
: a series of two animals forming a line that ends at a wooden boat. In the boat you could place favors, soaps, or candies. You could also use it to hold completed raffle tickets to be drawn later in the shower.
- Beatrix Potter
: use a white floppy-eared stuffed bunny or a real Peter Rabbit, a few small stuffed animals, a miniature tea set, a checkered napkin or placemat, and a few flowers. Place the stuffed animals and tea set on the napkin, so that they look like they are having a tea party. Sprinkle flower petals around the scene.
- Rubber Ducky
: place a rubber duck in a bowl filled with water. Float flowers or candles around the duck, or have several ducks of different sizes in the same bowl. Surround the base of the bowl with more rubber ducks or duck soaps.
- Beach Theme
: there are many items that can be used for beach themes. For example, plastic buckets and shovels, miniature beach chairs, starfish, miniature beach umbrellas, miniature beach balls, and sand. Look in the toy section of any department store for miniature items. Barbie or other similar doll series are sure to have something you could use.
- Western Theme: cowboy hats, horses, spurs, plaid, straw/hay, and anything you can find on a farm will work well. You could put a cowboy hat on a bed of hay, and surround the hat with figurines, soaps, or candles. Or fill the hat with baby items, handfuls of hay or flowers, and put the hat on its side in the middle of the table.
- Spring Theme
: put a bouquet of daisies, gerber daisies or tulips in a straw handbag/book bag or a small metal watering can. Fill the bottom of the bag with paper and add baby items on top, so that they can easily be seen.
To make great baby shower centerpieces all you have to do is look for items that reflect the theme of your baby shower, arrange them in a basket or on a tray, and add flowers, themed confetti, or pictures. Use your imagination and you will come up with something everyone will remember!
