When deciding what appetizers to serve, keep in mind preparation time, variety, and serving ease.
Since you are hosting the shower, you really don't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen when you could be mixing and mingling with guests.
So prepare as much food as possible in advance and simply warm it up on the day of the shower.
This will make your life easier and limit any possible stress you may have. You can also test the food before the day of the shower to make sure it's as tasty as it looks!
Variety is king or in your situation queen! You could have a couple of dips served with crackers or toast triangles, a vegetable platter, and 2 to 3 warm appetizers.
The number of appetizers depends on whether or not you will be serving a main dish, such as a salmon or lasagna. If you are going to have a main dish, you won't need as many appetizers.
If you will only be serving finger food, plan on having at least 6 to 8 appetizer pieces per guest. It's always better to have more than less, so plan accordingly.
The great thing about appetizers and finger food is that you can limit the amount of serving dishes and utensils you use.
Each guest will need a small plate, napkin and fork. What could be easier?
